Peter Brook RBA The Pennine Landscape painter
Prints     Signed Prints     Originals     Calendars
The Smithy Gallery has been an official Peter Brook dealer since 2004. Here at The Smithy we are also big fans and collectors ourselves of his work. Sadly Peter passed away in 2009 but he has left us with a rich and amazing body of work. Peter was known as The Pennine landscape painter but he is more than that, his pictures are full of atmosphere and his Yorkshire humour he will be sadly missed.

You can read more about Peter and the people who influenced him, like Hannah Hauxwell, you can view and buy his full range of prints online.

Jack Morris prints and originalsJack Morris
Originals  Prints
Jack Morris was born in Huddersfield in 1946, a typical Yorkshire man, full of humour and modesty. He paints using house emulsion paint acrylic paint and ink, which gives his paintings a simplicity with wonderful colours.
Why emulsion paint? With money tight, Audrey would not let Jack buy frivolous fancy things like proper paint so Jack used old tins of emulsion and gloss paint, back then the colours were drab and dull, but he enjoyed the painting, nowadays the range of colours is limitless and now i can afford fancy paint I choose not to.

Prints By Andrea HunterAndrea Hunter ‘Felt Artist’
Prints
After graduating from Leeds University Andrea returned home to the Dales to work as a professional artist. She worked predominantly in Charcoal and pastel for several years, before her interest in textiles uncovered a real love for felt making.
Andrea tries to create depth, subtlety, texture and a real feeling of movement in her felt pictures. These qualities are born from a technique of working with fine layers of wool as if it were paint. It is this technique and a strong illustrative dimension, which makes her work distinctly different from traditional felt art work.

YORKSHIRE LIFE LANDSCAPE ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2017!!

As a Yorkshire lass, Linda is thrilled to have been awarded the Yorkshire Life LANDSCAPE PAINTER OF THE YEAR for 2017.

Born, brought up and living on a working Dales farm, Linda has lived close to nature all of her life.

Painting and sketching has always been integral in her life. Many moons ago she had four fabulous years studying Graphic Design at York culminating with a distinction in Industrial Art and Design. As a student when working on thumb-nail sketches for designs she frequently had her initial designs torn up by her tutor for putting in too much detail!…thirty years on she still gets lost in the detail – spending hours perfecting each part of the layout of her paintings before she even starts to apply the paint!
