YORKSHIRE LIFE LANDSCAPE ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2017!!
As a Yorkshire lass, Linda is thrilled to have been awarded the Yorkshire Life LANDSCAPE PAINTER OF THE YEAR for 2017.
Born, brought up and living on a working Dales farm, Linda has lived close to nature all of her life.
Painting and sketching has always been integral in her life. Many moons ago she had four fabulous years studying Graphic Design at York culminating with a distinction in Industrial Art and Design. As a student when working on thumb-nail sketches for designs she frequently had her initial designs torn up by her tutor for putting in too much detail!…thirty years on she still gets lost in the detail – spending hours perfecting each part of the layout of her paintings before she even starts to apply the paint!

NEW Artist Jack Morris
Jack Morris was born in Huddersfield in 1946, a typical Yorkshire man, full of humour and modesty. He paints using house emulsion paint acrylic paint and ink, which gives his paintings a simplicity with wonderful colours.
After leaving the Army Jack got married to Audrey and they lived in a small terrace house. Jack became a pattern maker a job he loved and did until he retired. He had always made things especially out of wood loved making and carving walking sticks, as well as dabbling in painting. Jack does not consider himself an artist, there are others out there who are more worthy of such a title, he is happy as he is.
Why emulsion paint? With money tight, Audrey would not let Jack buy frivolous fancy things like proper paint so Jack used old tins of emulsion and gloss paint, back then the colours were drab and dull, but he enjoyed the painting, nowadays the range of colours is limitless and now i can afford fancy paint I choose not to.

Danny Abrahams NEW
Danny Abrahams is a totally self taught landscape artist. Born in Bradford in 1977 , Danny took an interest in sketching and painting from an early age.
During his teen years he discovered a love for music , becoming an accomplished musician , writing songs and playing guitar for the rock band ‘The Hoover Dams’. He found moderate success with the band , gigging at venues all over the UK , appearing on TV and doing live performances on the radio.
On reaching his thirties , he found that his love for art was starting to take over, and while he still enjoys writing songs and performing , art has become the focal point of Danny’s life. As a true Yorkshire man , Danny has been influenced by the the local beauty of the northern landscape and been inspired by his many travels during his career.
Danny has a love for the surrounding environment , finding beauty in everyday ‘images’ . The sky is a powerful subject in Danny’s work , it never ceases to amaze him , the overall beauty , emptiness , rawness and power of an everyday natural wonder that most of us take for granted.
Danny prefers working with oil on canvas. It favours his natural ability to capture the many ‘moods’ of the landscape and the magical ‘skyscapes’ that have become Danny’s focal point. Inspiration for his work comes from everyday situations , whether it’s from staring through the window on a cold and wet evening , or taking a stroll through the Dales on a Summer’s day. As he sit’s down in front of a bare canvas , he lets his natural ability and creative mind take over , using vibrant colours to create ‘amazing and magical ‘ landscapes .
